A post it note inspired the layout I wanted to share with you today! This was one of those little moments in the week that I really wanted to get into a scrapbook.
Here's the story!
I scanned the post it note and printed it on vellum then overlaid it on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
Part 2 of the journaling.
I printed my journaling on vellum and popped a Top Note shape (cut with my new Big Shot) underneath. To get the spacing right I printed my journaling out a few times and tested it with a Top Note Frame until I had it sized to fit.
I've used Urban Garden DSP and the matching cardstock - Baja Breeze, Old Olive and Not Quite Navy.
I used some more of the Urban Garden DSP for the letters, plus my Big Shot and Timeless Type Alphabet Sizzlits. I sat them on some circles made with the 1" and 1 1/4" punches. Some felt flowers from the Flower Fusion tins and Vintage brads to finish.
Now I must say I'm feeling a bit like it lacks something to tie it all together, but it is eluding me so I'm just calling it finished. I'm happy I got the post it note and the story behind it and a cute little picture all into a scrapbook. I just know we're going to be enjoying reading this one in future years.
I know because a few years ago my mum made me an album about my childhood. My two children and I love reading it, and one of our favourite pages is one with a collection of little notes I wrote. You might see a certain similar theme!
That says, " Dear Wendy (that's my mum) I still like you and I would still like my orange dress on Wendy so will you still let me have it on Wendy, Love from Susan."
And one that always gets a giggle from the kids ...
This note reads, "Dear Mum, If you act like that again you AREN'T invited!!!"
Hmm the phrase 'Like Mother, Like Daughter' is coming to mind. Anyway - my message today is to find a way to get those little notes and little stories into an album or perhaps a lovely box. Don't let worrying too much over whether your layout is perfect stop you from getting any done. They will be such treasures down the track.
Happy scrapping! Cheers, Sue

This is gorgeous, Sue! It made me laugh, and get teary, at the same time. I have had a number of similar instances with Ethan (the stomping off, and returning soon after with a note thrust at me). Priceless. You've captured it beautifully. Thanks for sharing!

Your family stories are often such a cross between heartwarming and hilarious! What a lovely family you are. Make the most of the post-it-notes, they're absolutely precious! (mum used to have a little exercise book where she wrote all the dumb and funny things we as kids said, unsuprisingly it filled up pretty quickly!) hehe

So funny Sue! How wonderful that your own Mother kept those little notes you wrote and you're right about getting those things down so they will long be treasured and remembered. Thanks for the inspiration. Jillx

What a fabulous memory to preserve. I have many fights with Ada about clothes, so I can definitely relate. You sound like you have much more patience than me though! I love the layout, especially the vellum over the Top Notes.

I really enjoyed reading your layout. It was such an awesome moment to scrap and remember. I love that you only have a small photo and lots of journalling. Great job!
