A few simple layouts to share with you today. I had a big photo sort out on the weekend and sorted a HUGE pile of photos from 2009 into categories - Hannah, Jack, kids playing, day trips, holidays, family and friends and so on. I'm picking a few of my favourites from each category to zip into a 2009 Snippets album, and I'll show you next month what I'm doing with the rest.
I kept my album cover super simple - just some cardstock and a title using my Big Shot and Timeless Type Alphabet dies.
Night of Navy, Old Olive, Ballet Blue and Pumpkin Pie - a mix of textured and smooth cardstock. I've used a little scrap of DSP for my 0 in the title, sponged with some Old Olive ink for a little definition. You get numbers 0 - 9 plus some other handy symbols such as this # one.
I used the leftover bits of cardstock for the next double page - super simple once again and they just give a snapshot about what will be in the album.
That's the left hand page and here's the right hand page, with one of the very few photos we had last year with all four of us included. Must make sure there are a few more this year!
Amongst the piles of photos I found these two which tell a story about my son Jack (3) that I wanted to get down on paper.
I've used colours from my photos - Certainly Celery and Taken With Teal, and since these are not two colours I'd use together often I added some Basic Black to tone down the clash!
My journaling is done with a Stampin' Write Journaller on a Top Note die cut shape - perfect for quick and easy journaling boxes.
It reads: Nov 2009: Things were rather quiet and this is what I discovered when I went to investigate.
And of course like all scrapbooking mums - the first thing I did when confronted with a dash of mischief was go grab the camera!
Here's the mischief - toothpaste spread all over the side of the basin.
And here is our young Mr 'Who Me???'
Super simple scrapbooking today for you. Hope it inspires a few beginner scrappers, or someone just teetering on the edge of taking up the hobby out there. You just need some photos, some stories and some cardstock to get started. I find I'm squeezing my scrapbooking into teeny pockets of times just now so nice simple easy layouts are working for me. I get such a sense of satisfaction from flicking through some finished layouts. I'd recommend it any day as a fabulous hobby. If you've been thinking about taking the plunge into scrapbooking - go for it. You don't have to scrap every photo and every story - that feeling of being 'behind' can overwhelm you and take the joy out of the hobby. Just grab out some favourites and start there.
Happy Scrapping!
Cheers, Sue

That photo is priceless, Sue - it just says everything, doesn't it?! I LOVE those colours together (Certainly Celery and Taken With Teal); you've inspired me!!
