Being someone who likes variety, I often try to re-invent the wheel with my scrapbooking; so here's what I've come up with this time that you may not have thought of doing with your own scrapbooking. I have created a layout that looks like a framed blackboard. This is a reasonably simple effect to create but has terrific impact. I have included some instructions below to help you out if you wish to give it a go.
This layout is of my happy Liam in an Indiana Jones phase he was going through earlier this year. I bought him a hat and some fake leather twine from a $2 shop and he ran round everywhere cracking his whip and saying: "Just call me Indi". He's such a DUDE!
To Create the Blackboard Frame Effect
1) I started with an A4 sheet of Confetti White cardstock and then used my 12" trimmer to cut in 4cm on each side and then removed the centre piece.
2) I then created the routed look in the frame by running my bone folder, using the groove of my 12"trimmer, down the cardstock in lines to make it look like a frame.
3) I then took a clean cut side of a scrap piece of card stock and dipped it into my Sahara Sand ink pad till the edge was coloured up.
4) After that, I rubbed that straight edge into the grooves I had created. I had to keep dipping the card in the ink and applying it to the grooves until I had gone all the way around my frame.
5) Then I just attached an A4 piece of Basic Black cardstock behind the frame and voila......a framed blackboard to embellish with whatever takes your fancy!
Here's a picture of Step 4) to help you:
