Now are you sitting there thinking Nikki has lost the plot? It's only the first week of June and she is talking about Christmas already? Well colder weather, chilly nights, fires and meals cooked in the slow cooker all signify for me the coming of the festive season .... and of course, that isn't the case for me anymore ... but I've been using this time to start on some festive scrapbooking pages.
All too often, once Christmas is over we are off on our summer holidays now, so these pages often get forgotten. So I decided that this year I would start early, not only on my Christmas cards but also some scrapbooking pages.
Every year since we arrived in Australia we have written a Christmas letter and sent some photos. This is the letter from December 2006 - we were living in Perth and about to embark on a journey across the Nullabor to live in Melbourne again.
I've used a Stampin' Up! white envelope and the Winter Post set to create a decorated back to the envelope - and I've edged the inside of the envelope with a piece of Old Olive designer series paper from the Holiday Treasures pack.
I've torn the edges of the Ruby Red patterned paper and used the edging tools to roughen everything up - almost like a discarded piece of wrapping paper.
Our letter from December 2006 is tucked inside the envelope - it actually has some notes written on it - it isn't quite perfect and I am sure that I could probably find the original on the computer - but I am preserving this one knowing that it was actually printed and written in 2006 ... I am sure that in years to come it will provide quite an insight into our lives.
Even when I re-read the letter when making this page I was amazed and at how our lives have developed in just three and a bit years - so take a look through your keepsakes and see if there is something there that really should be preserved for generations to come - even if it is a little bit festive!
Happy scrapbooking
Nikki

Love this Nikki.
We do a yearly letter too for our many interstate and overseas family and friends and I have always just placed mine in my album in its own protector...I never thought of scrapping it. lol!!
