Alisha - "This would have to be my favourite page. I love the symmetrical lines and the way it just all fell together. The picture of my son at Seal Rock was just screaming out to be scrap booked and I feel that I have done it justice. I got the main photo and edited it on the computer, so I had a black and white mirror image that would look like a reflection. I stuck them together on a piece of Brocade Blue CS and daubed the edge to make it stand out, but it just didn't hit me as great. Then after a little think, I knew what to do. I got another copy of the original photo, cut out the image of my son and pop dotted it on the top or the top photo. I loved it and it was something I had never done before. I then Sponger dauber the actual photo of seal rock down the bottom, but before I stuck it on the DSP, I folded the edge of the paper over and placed some CS underneath then used the cut off piece as an oversized photo corner. I used the rock and roll technique again on the medallion down the bottom, put a silver brad through the middle, then pop dotted it over the top of the same stamped in night of navy. Some highlighting of the title with the gel pen, some layering of CS with stamping under the final layer and my creation was complete".

Alisha - "Not thinking I had a lot of scrap booking items I got to work and realized they didn't need to be dedicated scrapping items to make my page work. I have cut the top note die cut in half and used it either side of the main picture and ran my "Title" paper through only half way to just get the edges.

 

Using a few punches here and there has given  accents to my page, like the flowers up the top, the small picture titles down the bottom and on the edge of the main photo. Some sponge daubing around edges makes things stand out like the pony and journaling.A stamp on the side and a little more for my title and my page is done. Now that wasn't that hard after all".

With Mother's day just around the corner, we thought this stunning layout made from the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue would inspire you all.

 

ALISHA  - "This Page was as easy as it was fun. I have just backed the photos in a complimentary colour to the background of Cottage Wall, stamped a few flowers from Vintage Vogue Stamp Set and used the "rock and roll" technique on the larger flowers to get the two tones together. Another piece of Pale Plum CS was used for the Title, and on this I used the "Stamping Off" Technique to get the paler flowers underneath the Title of MUM. The eyelet punch worked out great on the side of the title, and to make it stand out a little I sponge daubered it with Rich Razzleberry to match the wording. A bit of Very Vanilla CS underneath the title and another for my journaling and I was done."

Cottage Goodness

I am happy to be bringing you all Tina's third and final layout for us @ Stampamemory, personally it's my favourite. I love the bunches of stamped flowers. What grabs your eye?

 

TINA:

I've had these photos sitting on my desk ready to scrap for almost a year now.  The new Cottage Garden Stamp Set and matching Cottage Wall DSP were perfect for the photos, so I'm glad it took me a long time to get around to scrapping them!  This layout was cased from the layout on page 136 of the 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalogue - a great source of inspiration for everyone.

I stamped lots of the larger flowers in several different ways to get lots of different looks.  On Very Vanilla Card Stock I stamped the solid flower twice without reinking in between.  This gives the second image a lighter tone than the main, fully inked image.  Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped over the second image with the fully inked outline flower.  This gave a lovely two tone effect to the flower.
 
When I adhered the flowers to the page I cut small lengths of Old Olive ribbon, folded them in half and positioned them under the flowers to create leaves.  Some of the flowers were raised on Dimensionals to give some depth.

Scrapbooking photos without people in them

We are very happy to bring you another awesome layout from Tina Gillespie

 

Tina - Most of the time scrapbooking is about the picture, but at times the pictures you use are secondary to the story.  This page is one of the latter.  I quite often do 'moment in time' type pages that aren't necessarily about a person.  This page tracks the evolution of my crafting space.  The journaling reads:
 
A box was all I though I'd ever need to house my scrapbooking supplies.  I used to scrap on my lap in bed while watching TV.  But one box quickly became 3 and I had to move to the dining table in order to scrap. Then I bought a chest of drawers on wheels, which quickly filled.  My own crafting desk soon became a necessity, with a set of shelves for my stamps, and a box for my papers.  Recently I added some cube shelves.  I wonder if I'll ever have enough space for all my supplies?
 
I used the Top Note Die to create the brackets around the word box and the photograph of my first box.  I simply ran some Melon Mambo card stock through my Big Shot with the Top Note Die, then carefully trimmed along the perforations and trimmed the shape into the two brackets. Easy!  I love how versatile the Top Note Die is.
 

I scored the Chocolate Chip card stock with a ruler and my bone folder to give nice, thick ridges down the page.  The layout has lots of 'white space', so I thought the scoring would give some subtle textural interest to these spaces.

Tina:  I've had these photos sitting on my desk for a few months waiting to be scrapped.  I love how excited my son looks at finally losing his first and second baby teeth.  The quote I chose for the bottom left of the page summed up his experiences perfectly:

 
Losing baby teeth were a part and parcel of one's life - a symbol of growing up, and it is the tooth-fairy that makes this otherwise dreaded and painful process an exciting one - something to look forward to.  Mansi Maheshwan
 
He'd been trying to pull at his tooth for days to hurry it along because he wanted the Tooth Fairy to bring him some money.  He actually hoped he'd get $55 - the exact cost of a coveted toy.  The Tooth Fairy only left $1, but his disappointment was soon forgotten in the excitement of the whole experience.
 
In creating this page I've mostly used products from the new Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue. One of my favourite new products is the Big Shot, which I used on the title and the journaling boxes on the photos.  To create the outline effect of the journaling boxes I die cut 2 Stampin' Up! Top Notes - one in Whisper White and one in Soft Suede.  I cut each in half and then on the Soft Suede Top Note I carefully cut along the perforations to create a thin strip.  I then adhered this strip to the Whisper White Top Note.  You could just as easily do the opposite - discard the thin strip and adhere the central part to get a matted Top Note.

Scrapbooking your Xmas photos

Christmas is normally a busy time for most. So scrapbooking our Christmas photos normally happens later into the year. Our March Guest Designer Janice Klass has made this inspiring layout for us all to get those Christmas creations moving along.

I especially love how Janice has made the flower with a mistle toe twist.
